Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle Parts & Information

When people refer to a Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle, they could be referring to one of two bikes. The Honda CB77 Super Hawk is a 305cc classic, manufactured from 1961, until 1967. The Honda VTR1000F Super Hawk is a 996cc, DOHC, liquid cooled, eight valve, 90degree, V Twin Sports Bike. Known as the Firestorm, outside the United States, the Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle first hit the marketplace, with an early release model in 1998.

It was Big Reds response to the Ducati 916, which had, once again, put twin cylinder Sports Bikes in demand. The Super Hawks 100 horsepower engine, is meaty and muscular; with a four valves per cylinder, valve train, chain driven camshafts, and 180degree reversed heads. Without doubt, the Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle is a serious Sports Bike, available in the ‘real world’.

The Super Hawk incorporates several new design features and Super Bikes, ‘racing bred’ components. Light weight, powerful, with a sharp response. An aluminum swing arm connects the engine directly; to the twin spar, semi pivot-less, aluminum frame - which weighs in at just 17.6lbs. Therefore, the need for traditional pivot plates is eliminated. The Super Hawk also has a massive, 48mm carburetor. The largest ever, on any of Honda’s production motorcycles. The Super Hawk also has 41mm, adjustable, spring pre-load front forks, with Hondas Multi Action System (HMAS). On the back, HMAS single shocks, with 4.9inch travel, and spring preload and rebound damping adjustability.

The RVT1000R, a racing version of the Super Hawk, was launched in 2000. Rarely failing to deliver, it won the Super Bike World Championship first time out. From 2001, a few modifications were made. Fuel tank capacity was increased to 4.2gallons, including a 0.7-gallon reserve. To ensure there’s plenty of gas available, to keep that 996cc engine fed, even on the longer haul. The ergonomics of the bike were also improved, to offer a better, all day, riding position. Honda’s exclusive security system, the HISS immobilizer, also became a standard feature.

The Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle has cast aluminum, triple spoke wheels, with wide profile 17inch radials on the front and back. The Honda Super Hawk’s stopping power is provided by a single 220mm disc with single-piston caliper on the back. Plus, Dual, 296mm, floating brake discs, with four piston calipers and sintered metal pads, on the front. The Super Hawk has a stainless steel, two into two exhaust system, with buffed, canister, mufflers. The Super Hawk’s computerized ignition, with electronic advance, monitors the speed of the engine, and has a 10,100 rpm limiter. With some smart features, six speed transmission, a 996cc engine, and weighing in at 426lbs, the Honda Super Hawk Motorcycle is offering one hell of a ride.
