Honda Magna Motorcycle Parts & Information

The Honda Magna Motorcycle was first manufactured in 1982. It was assembled at Honda’s Marysville plant, Ohio, USA, until production stopped in 2003. A meaty Cruising Bike, it was first released with Honda’s liquid cooled, DOHC, V4, 748cc, 90degree engine. The Magna has always been highly praised for its raw acceleration. However, for the long cruise, earlier models did get their fair share of criticism, with regards to comfort. Despite the fact, it was the bike of choice for Canadian Grannies on a world tour! But, I guess, that’s easy to overlook, because she didn’t have a major TV company following her…

From 1982 until 1994, four models were released, the ultimate design running from 1994 to 2003. Honda set out to capture the Sport Cruiser market. By taking the all powerful, V4 engine, out of the VFR750 and slotting it into a Cruiser chassis. Some internal changes were made to the engine; including five speed transmission, a change of crankshaft, and smaller, chain driven cams. This high rpm, short stroke, V4 was an offshoot of Honda’s championship winning Super Bike designs. A four valve per cylinder, shim under bucket, double overhead engine; with 34mm carburetors and a tone of low end torque and mid range power. It being the ever ready, driving force, inside every Honda Magna. Making her a powered up Cruiser, with Super Bike credentials.

Enjoy all the economy of five speed, close ratio, transmission about town, and the convenience of a 13.5Litre tank, out on the open road. Several definitive and innovative updates were carried out, for the ultimate release. That V4 engine was made even more impressive, by the addition of some chrome finishing, plus, a chrome four-into-four exhaust, and extra fins. To look at, all Honda Magna Motorcycles look, pretty much, the same. With a low, 710mm (28 inch) seat, a detachable pillion seat and stretched 1652mm (65 inch) wheel base. Therefore, it can be difficult to work out the year of a Honda Magna.

On the 1995 and 1996 deluxe models, the tank decal was updated and a miniature faring was made available. To a certain extent, the paint job can pin it down, the most notable being a scalloped design, released from 1994. Even so, colors were limited, and rotated from 1982 to 2003. So, even that isn’t a sure indication. Accessories, such as a chrome backrest, rear carrier and engine guard, are practical, but also go a long way to personalize this classic cruiser. Making it not just the ultimate Power Cruiser, but more specifically, your ultimate Power Cruiser.
